Coyote Run is a powerhouse band offering far more than just music, they put on a show with grace and power - fun family entertainment that appeals to all generations. This award winning, highly literate band takes traditional Celtic music and stylings and blends them with powerful, alternative rock.
"The take no prisoners approach to Celtic music!"- Gene Shay, WXPN Radio, Philadelphia PA
"Funktabulous infused Gaelic rock-esque folk with a big barrel of mead."- Kevin Crowe, Knoxville's Weekly Voice, Knoxville TN
"Listening to Coyote Run makes me think of a large... library, where every book you open gives you a view of something fascinating."- Art Ketchen, Celtic Beat
Native American tribes have long viewed the Coyote as the trickster/teacher. Filled with mischief, this animal guide leads the child within the adult, tapping into the joy of living. His playful and irreverent attitude perfectly blends with the defiant and life-filled spirit of the Celtic people who immigrated and spread across the North American continent. Coyote Run's music is undeniably Celtic in influence, yet hops boundaries and stylistic borders with the ease and carefree nature of the trickster.
No, they don't play traditional music in a traditional style. They are part of the Celtic music diaspora, embodying the spirit and style, but blending with other stylings before returning it to the celtic fold. New music that honors the old traditions of storytelling, of melody, magic and of hearth and home; this is Coyote Run.
Coyote Run has been given glowing reviews by such celtic publications as Celtic Beat, the Irish Voice, the Irish Echo and the Milwaukee Irish Press;
They have played many festivals including: The Potomac Celtic Festival, VA; Celtic Fling, PA; Celebration of Celts, NY; Grandfather Mountain, NC; Sycamore Shoals, TN; McHenry Highland Games, MD; and more.
They have toured Ireland and Scotland. In both places they were warmly received with standing ovations and crowds on their feet dancing to the music. In Inverness, they drew such a crowd that Hootenany's (the famous music venue) had to start turning folks away, and they wouldn't let them off the stage demanding not just an encore, but an entire additional set of 45 minutes of music. They were promptly invited back to every venue we played in both countries.
A good way to describe their look is "frontier celtic." Imagine Scottish pioneers pushing into the unsettled lands of early Virginia and encountering the natives. It is from this imagined early meeting that they have taken their name and their look of part Scot with Indian elements.
New music - all original;
Celtic heritage and influences and strains of traditional melodies interweave their songs;
Alternative and eclectic
Folk-Rock
Formed in 1999, Coyote Run has been touring successfully ever since. In 2007, they released their sixth CD, 'Places,' a CD/DVD double disc live album, which has garnered critical acclaim and enormous audience popularity.
Coyote Run is called 'The Thinking Person's Celtic Rock Band,' because of their uber-literate lyrics, their powerful melodies and haunting arrangements. Though uniquely of their own mold, they can claim their influences to be: Silly Wizard, Steeleye Span, Enter the Haggis and the Glengarry Bhoys.
Coyote Run takes the stage with an arresting power and energy. They have performed at and headlined major festivals such as: Celebration of Celts (NY), Celtic Fling (PA), Potomac Celtic Festival (VA), Grandfather Mountain (NC), Foothills Highland Games (NC), Sycamore Shoals Festival (TN), Toledo Irish Festival (OH), Virginia Highland Festival (VA), McHenry Highland Games (MD), Williamsburg Highland Festival (VA) and more.
